About the Role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) Deutschland is seeking a Specialist for Protection & Participation (Focus on Parent Groups) in Berlin. This role is crucial for implementing the AMIF-funded project "Families Shape the Future," which supports families with refugee and migration backgrounds in their integration into Germany. The Specialist will be responsible for organizing and leading parent groups, fostering community, and reducing barriers to support services.

Responsibilities

Recruiting and engaging parents with refugee and/or migration backgrounds for parent groups and other project activities.
Planning, organizing, and conducting parent groups (at least 8 sessions) in German, using simple language.
Promoting regular and active participation of attendees and ensuring they belong to the project's target group.
Supporting the development and maintenance of a local partner network.
Assisting in the planning and execution of workshops and exchange formats in family centers, schools, and daycare centers.
Participating in regional networking and exchange meetings.
Contributing to the development of project materials, such as best-practice brochures and video clips.
Assisting with reporting and documenting project results, best practices, and lessons learned.
Handling administrative tasks in compliance with IRC and funder requirements, including documenting project measures and managing procurement processes.

Requirements

Several years of experience working with families with refugee or migration backgrounds, ideally including project implementation.
Study/training in pedagogy, social work, psychology, or similar is advantageous.
Personal or family migration experience is desirable.
Experience in planning and conducting workshops and designing 'Safer Spaces' (in-person & digital).
High sensitivity to diversity, multilingualism, and migration-related issues.
Good local network, especially within migrant communities.
German language skills at B2 level and English language skills at B1 level (CEFR).
Independent, structured work style and teamwork skills.
Willingness to work at project sites and undertake occasional business trips.
Adherence to the core values and principles outlined in IRC Way - Standards for Professional Conduct (Integrity, Service, Equality, Accountability).
Willingness to provide an extended police clearance certificate upon hiring.
