About the Role
The Therapeutic Residential Group in Berlin-Wedding supports pregnant women with a migration background and mothers with children under six who require assistance with cohabitation due to mental illness or severe life crises.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary care for mother and child, offering advice and support on daily life and parenting issues.
- Support the establishment and stabilization of an appropriate parent-child relationship.
- Promote mothers' parenting skills.
- Assist with daily life management.
- Accompany and support clients with authorities and government agencies.
- Conduct pedagogical diagnostics and create care plans.
- Provide crisis support and intervention, including assessing potential child endangerment and developing/implementing protection plans.
- Partially assume child-rearing responsibilities when necessary.
- Work with language and cultural mediators.
- Document care and create progress reports.
- Communicate and collaborate with cooperation partners and key individuals.
- Participate in case conferences and coordinate care and therapy plans within the multidisciplinary team.
Requirements
- Completed vocational training as a social worker, social pedagogue, educator, or state-recognized remedial teacher.
- Specific experience working with individuals with mental illnesses and those with migration experience.
- Professional competence in working with infants and toddlers and in advising and supporting parents.
- Experience in crisis intervention and child protection.
- A appreciative and respectful attitude towards the pedagogical/social therapeutic challenges faced by mothers and children.
