About the Role

Fish & Richardson, a premier global intellectual property law firm, seeks a Conflicts Specialist for its remote-first Risk Management Department. This role is crucial for ensuring the firm's compliance and operational integrity by managing potential conflicts of interest.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and follow up on conflict inquiries via email, regular mail, or telephone in a timely manner.
  • Track, maintain, and resolve conflict memorandums according to established procedures.
  • Review new business submissions for completeness and accuracy, collaborating with submitters for necessary information.
  • Follow up on identified potential conflict issues to ensure their resolution.
  • Review and initiate the resolution of pending business and ethical conflict issues.
  • Coordinate conflict resolution with involved attorneys for both ethical and business conflicts.
  • Prepare and produce accurate conflict reports for new clients, matters, and portable work for potential lateral hires.
  • Conduct research on new clients and adverse parties, including gathering and filtering corporate family tree information.
  • Review and advise on the creation of ethical walls for new matters, considering existing ethical walls and specific conflict issues.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • 3+ years of related ethics and conflicts experience in a law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of law firm administrative processes.
  • Ability to identify issues and problems, and recommend and implement solutions.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Experience with and ability to effectively use software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database tools.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to maintain effective relationships and communicate with a diverse group of principals, attorneys, managers, and staff via multiple communication channels.
  • Ability to successfully develop quality team relationships and work well within a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing responsibilities and circumstances and adhere to firm policies and procedures.
