About the Role

This position acts as the primary support and day-to-day client contact for client service teams and operations, ensuring quality standards, compliance, and integrity of client records. It facilitates release and entry summary completion, manages client and customs processes, and maintains tariff databases, classifications, and client instructions. The role also involves auditing service delivery to ensure client satisfaction and accurate classification and billing within service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with clients and carriers, providing daily contact and support.
  • Prioritize and complete work based on client needs, demands, customs requirements, and Livingston standards for release conditions and compliance.
  • Create and maintain the client tariff database, ensuring accuracy and currency of system maintenance files, vendors, and keywords for efficient processing.
  • Verify documentation for release conditions, compliance, and rating compliance, including free trade certificates.
  • Create, maintain, and adhere to client Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Exceptions to Standard Procedures (ESPs).
  • Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, operational productivity, and relationships within North American Brokerage operations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely release and rating of shipments across all transportation modes for the assigned client base, including auditing work.
  • Provide support, guidance, and mentoring to Release Operations members to ensure accurate release and rating activities.
  • Escalate issues for resolution or return entries to team members with recommended corrective actions.
  • Create customs entries in the appropriate system by accurately interpreting customs documents and selecting proper vendors and keywords for all shipment values.
  • Key in shipment information for EDI release, rating, and billing, ensuring all mandatory fields are completed accurately.
  • Professionally contact clients and carriers to obtain missing documentation, information, and/or instructions.
  • Work directly with Customs and PGA's as necessary.
  • Conduct periodic checks to ensure accurate application of tariff and valuation, and proper selection of client/importer information.
  • Conduct documented internal audits.
  • Assist in compiling and reporting performance measurement statistics for the Client Service Team.
  • Participate fully in the team's daily operations, including setting priorities, organizing work, coordinating with others, problem-solving, decision-making, and handling special projects.
  • Proactively coordinate and implement electronic data relationships to gain efficiencies and improve one-step processing.
  • Stay informed about new systems developments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • 3 years of related experience.
  • Working towards or successful completion of the Certified Customs Specialists (CCS) designation with the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers (CSCB) or the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA) is a requirement, if not already obtained.
  • Successful completion of the CCS examination is a mandatory requirement for further advancement.
