About the Role
Maintenance Associates report to the Property Manager and are primarily responsible for the general, preventative, and repair maintenance of apartment buildings, units, and grounds. This role responds to emergency situations and supports various maintenance activities to ensure resident satisfaction and promote Hazelview Properties as a preferred landlord. This role lives on property.
Responsibilities
- Ensure a superior level of cooperation, service, and support to residents.
- Promptly respond to resident issues and service requests.
- Perform general and specialized maintenance and repairs to site properties and surrounding properties.
- Complete assigned service requests for in-suite (interior and exterior) and common area issues in a timely manner.
- Complete in-suite turnover activities, including light and heavy maintenance.
- Complete appliance repairs, routine plumbing repairs, carpentry repairs, painting, and basic electrical repairs.
- Inspect grounds, facilities, and equipment to determine repair or preventative maintenance needs.
- Maintain clean and garbage-free lobbies, hallways, and properties.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all electrical, mechanical, and work areas.
- Perform all job facets in accordance with applicable legislation, including Health and Safety standards, WHMIS, AODA, PIPEDA, and Human Rights.
- Comply with health & safety procedures, ensuring the use of required safety equipment.
- Identify unsafe practices and conditions while maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Ensure all areas are free of hazards and inform management of unresolved issues.
- Maintain regular and timely documentation of maintenance activities.
- Respond to after-hours emergencies when on call.
- Work with contractors and monitor work progress.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
Requirements
- Completion of High School or GED.
- 4+ years of maintenance or related experience.
- Flexibility to work on-call on a rotating schedule (evenings & weekends) is required.
- Proficient with the use of basic handheld and electrical tools.
- Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, drywall, carpentry, and painting.
- Familiarity with community rules and regulations.
- A professional demeanor with strong communication skills.
