About the Role

Equitable is seeking an experienced Lead, Ceded Reinsurance Administration to support Finance Operations within the Accounting Center of Excellence. This role is crucial for managing reinsurance treaty administration and related financial processes, supporting Equitable’s strategy for capital management, growth, and shareholder value. The position leads a team of professionals, develops expertise on ceded life and annuity reinsurance treaties, and partners with various departments to operationalize transactions, manage settlements, and ensure compliance with all requirements. A key focus is automating and improving ceded treaty administration and providing business insights.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of reinsurance treaty provisions and serve as a subject matter expert.
  • Lead a team supporting treaty administration and analysis activities.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly and quarterly treaty settlement statements.
  • Manage reinsurance receivables and payables with counterparties.
  • Partner with accounting and financial reporting teams to support financial close processes.
  • Analyze and monitor actual treaty experience in accordance with corporate risk sharing and retention limits.
  • Prepare and analyze reinsurance treaty financial results and trends.
  • Manage and monitor reinsurance claims processing, including responding to counterparty inquiries.
  • Provide input in the design of new treaties and amendments, and lead the implementation of administrative functions.
  • Provide analysis to support treaty negotiations and arbitrations.
  • Design efficient, effective, and scalable processes and controls with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate communication and documentation gathering to support internal and external audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree
  • 6+ years of reinsurance operational experience working with life and/or annuity products.
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, and empowering team members.
  • Demonstrated understanding of reinsurance administration, treaty mechanics, and accounting implications.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with experience analyzing reinsurance administration processes, identifying control and efficiency gaps, and leading initiatives to improve treaty administration, reporting, and settlement activities.
  • Skilled at using quantitative and qualitative data to diagnose issues, evaluate alternatives, and communicate recommendations.
  • Established user of reinsurance technology applications (e.g., TAI), Microsoft suite, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently with a diverse group of subject matter experts.
  • Experience partnering with external reinsurers and asset managers.
  • Experience in change management.
  • Knowledge of SOX and audit requirements.
