About the Role
The Underwriting Analyst will be an integral part of the Underwriting Operations team, focusing on assisting and monitoring, reporting, processing controls, and operations applicable to the business underwritten in the London Market and International Distribution Companies, and managing services provided by Underwriting Operations. The team will provide market-leading services to Underwriting across Munich Re Speciality Group.
Responsibilities
- Handle regular internal and external reporting to support MRSG and MRSL and its subsidiaries and affiliated companies, including the production and analysis of regular reports and the development and enhancement of reporting tools.
- Prepare and review standard and ad-hoc reports and KPIs for internal monitoring, underwriting controls, data quality, and management level review.
- Assist in coordinating and completing regulatory returns such as ATIA, GAREAT, and PMDr.
- Support the recording of Employers’ Liability policies on Syndicate systems and the subsequent regulatory reporting to the Employers’ Liability Tracing Office (ELTO) and respond to related queries and issues, developing and enhancing processes.
- Create insights from portfolio of reports to facilitate data-enabled decision making in Underwriting, Operations, and the wider business.
- Assist with relevant reports to Munich Re, Lloyd’s, the PRA/FCA, and internal and/or external project initiatives.
- Engage and develop relationships with underwriting teams to provide ongoing training on underwriting systems and procedures to promote best practice.
- Assist in responding to underwriting audits by Lloyd’s, external auditors, Internal Audit, and the wider Munich Re Group, including the preparation and presentation of required underwriting information.
- Develop and maintain a list of all Individual Authority limits documents on behalf of Munich Re Syndicate Ltd.
- Contribute to relevant MRSL underwriting management procedures and processes, including those applicable to the International Distribution Companies.
- Assist with the annual self-assessment of, and ongoing adherence to, the Principles for Doing Business at Lloyd’s.
- Assist with any ad-hoc Underwriting Operations and Underwriting Management issues as and when required.
Requirements
- Demonstrate clear understanding of the underlying principles of insurance and the Lloyd’s environment, including Lloyd’s Principles and the workings of a managing agent.
- Demonstrate clear understanding of the roles of colleagues and their relationships to the structure and operation of the department and wider organisation.
- Demonstrate willingness to continue to develop knowledge through formal and informal learning, both internally and externally to the organisation.
Skills
- Ability to manage own workload and to work both supportively and jointly with colleagues.
- Ability to work under pressure and flexibly when necessary, prioritizing tasks, resource planning, and meeting deadlines.

- Familiarity with implementing, maintaining, and developing state-of-the-art reporting technologies such as Power BI, data analytics capabilities, and reporting process automation.
