About the Role

As a (Junior) Operations Controller, you will play a vital role within the Ops Controlling team, bridging the gap between supply chain activities and financial performance. You will take ownership of inventory reporting, sales & demand planning alignment, and PO budget control, helping to keep working capital, cost, and margin visible and under control. You will strengthen an area that's growing in scope and complexity, working closely with a Senior Ops Controller to build resilience into critical, closing-relevant processes and act as a reliable partner to the Global Supply Planning team and HQ Finance.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly inventory reporting and forecasting process, analyzing stock levels, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to optimize working capital.
  • Conduct monthly sales and demand planning checks, ensuring financial alignment and consistency between operational forecasts and commercial targets.
  • Oversee the approval workflow for Purchase Orders (POs) and track PO budget consumption to ensure cost control and budget compliance.
  • Take ownership of slow-moving inventory, including conducting long-tail analyses, calculating necessary write-offs/provisions, and coordinating scrapping requests.
  • Analyze Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and its direct impact on the contribution margin, helping to identify profitability drivers including tracking of special/one-off effects within COGS.
  • Act as backup for closing-relevant Ops Controlling tasks, ensuring continuity of critical month-end and reporting processes.
  • Act as a reliable sparring partner for the Global Supply Planning team, supporting them with regular cost reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for OPEX cost lines.
  • Provide cost transparency and insights to both local leadership and HQ finance teams.
  • Identify and implement process improvements across reporting structures.
  • Support Finance transformation initiatives, including system enhancements, SAP implementation or BI tool integrations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Controlling, FP&A, or Financial Reporting roles.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, PowerQuery, pivot tables, modeling).
  • Experience with ERP systems, ideally Business Central and/or SAP.
  • Strong understanding of inventory.
  • Ability to manage large data sets with precision and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial concepts simply.
  • Experience in a consumer products, retail, or subscription business.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, SQL, or other analytics tools.
  • Exposure to multi-entity or multi-currency reporting.
  • Experience in a fast-growing, international environment.
