About the Role

The Control Room Operator will assist the Operations Supervisor by pursuing maximum possible revenue deliveries, identifying and initiating appropriate response plans for alarm conditions, and implementing all applicable regulatory and contractual obligations for real-time operations fleet wide. This role coordinates day-to-day operations activities for a diverse portfolio of generating facilities.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and operates large and small aggregate generators using multiple monitoring and control platforms.
• Evaluates operating situations against multiple regulatory and contractual obligations.
• Operates multiple power plant control systems technologies, predicting grid response and implementing voltage schedules.
• Initiates and documents alarm response plans, coordinating immediate response for high-risk indications and providing required notifications.
• Performs failure analysis.
• Maximizes fleet value by interacting with maintenance teams, understanding dispatch obligations, and challenging teams to maximize owner revenue.
• Maintains the operator log for tracking capacity offline, trouble conditions, status changes, control actions, and interactions with regulatory entities.
• Provides contractually required failure notifications using the operator log.

Requirements

• 2-3 years of experience in power plant operations.
• Competent technical knowledge of general plant and system processes, electrical and SCADA systems.
• Competent technical knowledge in analyzing equipment performance and identifying performance issues.
• Ability to coordinate multiple activities and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
• Ability to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions, and conduct analysis independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to work in a high-stress environment where decisions directly impact personnel safety and equipment reliability.
• Proficient computer skills using MS Excel, MS Project, MS Word, and Outlook.
• Experience working with computerized maintenance management systems (Salesforce).
• Understanding of electronic power system protection equipment purpose/behavior is required.
