About the Role
RBC Capital Markets Industrials & Financial Sponsors Investment Banking team is seeking an Analyst for their Sydney office. This coverage role offers experience with ASX listed and private equity clients across healthcare, consumer retail, and general industrials. The position provides an opportunity to develop technical and soft skills within an established and growing team, covering a wide range of industries for generalist learning and future specialization.
Responsibilities
- Transaction execution and new business development
- Preparing financial models, conducting research, and analyzing data to assist senior team members in advising clients
- Providing analytical, due diligence, and transactional support on transactions and business development
- Collaborating with the team on the development of pitch books and related client materials
- Reviewing and complying with Firm Policies applicable to business activities
- Proactively identifying and escalating operational risk loss events, control deficiencies, and risks to management and relevant risk/control functions
- Developing relationships with client peers and juniors, and understanding business opportunity development
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as reasonably required, consistent with background, experience, and prior business activity
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience, preferably in Investment Banking, management consulting, law, or Big 4 accounting (modeling/valuations, FDD, M&A)
- Bachelor’s degree required; commerce/law preferred, but other degrees with strong corporate finance foundations are acceptable
- Knowledge of and willingness to learn about all investment banking products including M&A, equity, debt, and convertible securities
- Outstanding quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; strong knowledge of finance and accounting
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask, manage conflicting priorities, and prioritize deliverables
- Team player mentality with the ability to work independently
- Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills with ability to create and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization
- Must maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct
