About the Role

LightSpeed Japan Studio is a game development studio dedicated to crafting original AAA action game titles for global audiences. Led by industry veteran Hideaki Itsuno, the studio operates across two locations in Tokyo and Osaka. The studio offers a flexible and inclusive work environment and actively welcomes game creators who are full of talent and passion for pushing the boundaries of game development.

Responsibilities

• Create photorealistic visual concepts for games and visual works, defining the overall visual direction.
• Design photorealistic characters and enemies based on their personality and background.
• Design in-game stages, environments, and background art to create an immersive world.
• Establish visual style guidelines to ensure consistency across all art elements.
• Collaborate with game designers and 3D artists to integrate visual elements into gameplay.
• Prepare briefing materials and specifications for outsourcing, and supervise art production by external vendors.

Requirements

• Concept art experience in the gaming industry (AAA title experience is a plus).
• Strong knowledge and proven track record in designing characters, environments, and effects.
• Advanced skills in design tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Fundamental knowledge of 3D software (e.g., Maya, ZBrush) and ability to collaborate with 3D artists.
• Excellent communication skills for smooth collaboration with artists and directors.
• Ability to accept and incorporate feedback flexibly and constructively.
