About the Role
Arcadis is seeking a Flooding and Drainage Engineer to join the Sydney Urban Development & Regeneration team. This role will support national teams on challenging greenfield and brownfield residential, commercial, industrial, and energy projects, focusing on improving quality of life through sustainable design and consultancy solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop, run, and maintain hydraulic and hydrological models (e.g., TUFLOW, WBNM, HEC-RAS) to simulate flood behaviour.
- Implement the State Government's Flood Risk Management Manual to create flood studies, mapping, and management plans.
- Assess development applications (DAs) and planning proposals for flood risks to ensure alignment with local council policies.
- Evaluate flood hazard, vulnerability, and risk to life and property for various scenarios, including climate change impacts.
- Consult with internal teams, state agencies, and the community to communicate flood risk and mitigation measures.
- Prepare detailed technical reports for flood studies, risk management studies, and mitigation option feasibility.
Requirements
- Share a passion for improving quality of life.
- Be technically capable with experience in flood modelling.
- Possess experience in civil infrastructure or urban development projects.
- Have a relevant engineering degree (Civil or Environmental).
- Demonstrate experience in flood hydrology, hydraulic modelling, and floodplain management.
- Have professional experience with TUFLOW (1D, 2D, combined 1D/2D) and GIS tools (ArcGIS/QGIS).
- Possess experience in Hydrologic analysis (e.g., RORB, RAFTS, etc.) and flood modelling with other hydraulic modelling packages such as HEC-RAS.
- Have an ability to work on multidisciplinary projects.
- Have substantial experience in, or a desire to gain exposure to, dealing with clients and business development.
- Understand the NSW Flood Risk Management Manual (2023) and Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR) Guidelines.
