About the Role
This role involves the daily care of young chickens, ensuring their health and well-being, maintaining the housing systems, and assisting with feed mill operations. The position requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for the pullet flock (young birds aged 0-16 weeks).
- Perform day-to-day housekeeping duties.
- Attend to sick or injured birds and manage mortality.
- Ensure proper feed levels and feed system operation.
- Administer vaccinations and medications to birds.
- Monitor birds' water supply.
- Ensure the housing system is in proper working condition.
- Maintain cleanliness of the chicken house.
- Operate and maintain the onsite feed mill or fertilizer mill.
- Enter feed formulas into the feed mill system and ensure correct mixing and delivery.
- Receive and manage deliveries of feed ingredients, checking bin levels.
- Fill micro hoppers with feed ingredients and move pallets using a hand pallet jack.
- Operate and maintain corn dryer tanks.
- Operate heavy machinery and assist with equipment movement.
- Maintain a clean environment in the mills.
- Perform and document preventative maintenance on feed and water lines.
Requirements
- 50% English proficiency required.
- Background in agriculture, especially working with animals and livestock.
- Mechanical aptitude is a plus.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Possession of a driver's license.
- Mexican, U.S., or Canadian Citizenship.
- Valid Passport.
