About the Role

As a Therapeutic Youth Worker, you will provide key support to young people aged 12 to 17 who have experienced childhood trauma, abuse, or neglect. You will be part of a dedicated team ensuring a safe, homelike environment where these young people can thrive, supporting them to learn independent life skills, develop problem-solving skills, and build positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Support young people aged 12 to 17 years who have experienced childhood trauma, abuse, or neglect.
• Ensure a safe, homelike environment where young people can thrive.
• Support young people to learn independent life skills.
• Support young people to develop problem-solving skills.
• Support young people to build appropriate and positive relationships with others.
• Connect with and support young people with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and an intellectual disability.
• Utilize communication facilitation strategies (such as key word signs and using visuals).
• Perform personal care.
• Work a roster pattern that includes afternoon, overnight (including sleepover), and weekend shifts.

Requirements

• Hold or be actively completing a Diploma level (or higher) qualification in Community Services or a related field OR have relevant work history and are willing to complete a Diploma of Child, Youth & Family Intervention offered by LWB.
• Hold a current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) certificate.
• Hold a current driver’s licence.
• Able to assist with activities of daily living, including personal care.
• Able to work a roster pattern that includes shifts across afternoon, overnight (including sleepover) and weekends.
• Willing to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, NSW Working with Children Check and NSW Residential Care Workers Register check.
