About the Role

The Senior Technical Accounting Manager is a critical individual-contributor role within Terawatt's Finance department, focused on accounting research and policy for the company's complex capital structure and growing asset base. This position requires a strong foundation in technical accounting, ideally from Big 4 experience, applied to real transactions in a growth-stage company. The role is for someone who enjoys in-depth accounting research and analysis, serving as a go-to resource on technical accounting matters.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct accounting research and author policy memos for complex transactions.
  • Analyze accounting treatment for complex debt and equity instruments.
  • Evaluate customer contracts and revenue arrangements for proper recognition.
  • Support fair value measurement analysis and disclosures.
  • Apply ASC 946 considerations to investment structures.
  • Own the accounting for construction-in-progress (CIP).
  • Maintain the fixed asset ledger and ensure capitalization policies are applied consistently.
  • Partner with teams to ensure accurate and timely project cost capture and reporting.
  • Support the preparation of financial reporting packages, focusing on technical areas.
  • Prepare technical audit support and act as a point of contact for external auditors.
  • Apply SOX-standard documentation and control practices to technical accounting deliverables.

Requirements

  • Active CPA designation required.
  • Big 4 audit or advisory experience required.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on exposure to ASC 606, ASC 820, and ASC 946 strongly preferred.
  • Experience with complex debt and equity accounting strongly preferred.
  • Experience with construction/CIP or asset accounting strongly preferred.
  • Deep US GAAP knowledge.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a "zero-defect" mindset.
  • Motivated to drive research and analysis independently with strong follow-through and sound judgment.
  • Able to manage tight, sometimes shifting deadlines in a fast-moving scale-up environment.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for technical accounting.
  • Team player who enjoys the "build" phase of a company with a positive, collaborative attitude.
