About the Role
CREW’s Platform Team seeks a product-focused data scientist and developer to design and implement data products. This role involves creating data transformations, models, and dashboards to enhance intelligence platform capabilities and support other CREW teams. The position requires a blend of data expertise, production code-writing skills, and cross-functional communication to gather requirements, design solutions, implement data approaches, and manage feedback loops.
Responsibilities
- Design data products by driving stakeholder discussions to define problems and propose appropriate data product solutions.
- Implement data products by developing visualizations, dashboards, tools, and models using production-quality code and best practices.
- Contribute to the extension and maintenance of CREW’s intelligence platform codebase.
- Steward the intelligence platform by educating colleagues on data product usage, collecting feedback for iteration, and identifying new data-related opportunities.
- Take initiative to elevate and galvanize efforts to address unearthing data-related problems and platform-capability potential.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a collaborative data professional (data scientist, data analyst, data engineer).
- Academic and professional background pairing data or computer science with environmental or natural science.
- Python proficiency, including scientific (numpy, pandas), machine learning (scikit-learn, pytorch), and visualization (matplotlib, seaborn, plotly) libraries.
- Experience building for non-technical stakeholders and designing thoughtful data visualizations.
- Comfortable collecting requirements and iterating based on feedback.
- Clear communication and documentation habits.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, early-stage, or evolving company environment.
- Practices extreme ownership.
- Enjoys working in the trenches with the team and working with high empathy.
- Has a growth mindset.
