About the Role

The Steward Shift Manager is responsible for ensuring maximum efficiency and cleanliness of kitchen equipment, china, silver, glassware, pots, and pans. This role involves assigning work, directing employees, scheduling, training, and replenishing supplies with clean ware during their assigned shift. This is a substitute union role.

Responsibilities

  • Assign work and responsibilities to employees.
  • Direct employees and manage scheduling and training.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of all kitchen equipment, china, silver, glassware, pots, and pans.
  • Replenish supplies with clean ware.
  • Participate in the employee selection process, including interviewing and recommending hires.
  • Set performance standards for employee tasks, jobs, and roles.
  • Align individual performance expectations with organizational goals.
  • Discipline employees and issue corrective actions.
  • Train Kitchen Utility staff on chemical use and sanitary handling of Food and Beverage equipment and utensils.
  • Oversee banquet set-up and breakdown.
  • Assign duties as provided by management.
  • Comply with all department and company rules, regulations, policies, procedures, internal controls, and government rules and regulations.
  • Attend periodic meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform periodic safety training.
  • Promote positive public and employee relations.
  • Present oneself in a neat and clean appearance at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to obtain the appropriate license pursuant to the applicable statute, rules and regulations.
  • Ability to perform each job responsibility satisfactorily.
  • Ability to lift or maneuver at least seventy-five (75) pounds.
  • Ability to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.
  • Must be able to interact with internal and external guests in a professional manner.
  • This position may require obtaining a gaming level license.

Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from other Team Members or guests.
  • Fluency in English required.
  • Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to compute complex mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to decipher various reports and maintains reports upon request.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
