About the Role

Treaty Oak is seeking a Director, Transmission and Interconnection, to lead interconnection strategy and execution for utility-scale solar and storage projects. This role is critical in navigating complex interconnection processes across various ISO and vertically integrated markets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects through the interconnection process from inception through Commercial Operation in ISO and vertically integrated markets.
  • Evaluate transmission and interconnection strategies, tariffs, and processes, providing recommendations to project teams.
  • Coordinate all interconnection requirements, including applications, studies, agreements, and post-IA project execution.
  • Negotiate interconnection study results and agreements with utilities for favorable outcomes.
  • Lead communication and build relationships with utilities and ISOs, tracking progress for timely and cost-effective project completion.
  • Identify optimal interconnection locations based on cross-functional siting criteria.
  • Track changes to interconnection tariffs, business practice manuals, and key transmission upgrades.
  • Drive stakeholder and regulatory process participation, representing the company.
  • Manage and coordinate consultant engagement across interconnection and transmission workstreams.
  • Apply proficiency in Greenfield development and M&A processes to support project evaluation and acquisition diligence.
  • Collaborate on interconnection milestones with cross-functional teams.
  • Track milestones in interconnection agreements, security postings, and coordinate utility meetings.
  • Read and negotiate complex legal contracts including Interconnection Agreements, Oversight Transfer Agreements, Facility Construction Agreements, and Engineering and Procurement Agreements.
  • Independently perform injection capacity studies, review powerflow cases, and analyze contingency analysis results using powerflow software.

Requirements

  • 8–10 years of relevant experience in interconnection, project development, or transmission planning.
  • Experience at an IPP, utility, ISO/RTO, or consulting firm is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.

Skills

  • Proficient in PSSe, PSLF, PowerWorld, or TARA
  • Demonstrated experience submitting projects into interconnection queues and executing LGIA processes.
  • Familiarity with OASIS/OATI
  • Familiarity with at least one economic modeling software (UPLAN, Promod, Probe, or PLEXOS)
