About the Role
The Project Superintendent controls all field activities related to a project, including on-site field administration, supervision, and technical management of all construction operations. This role involves supervising and mentoring Assistant Project Superintendents, Field Engineers, and laborers, as well as managing subcontractors and other construction personnel.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enforce a project-specific site logistics plan and temporary facilities.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce a project-specific site safety programs.
- Coordinate and manage all material deliveries and subcontracts.
- Assist the Project Manager in developing subcontractor scopes of work.
- Provide input to the Project Manager on field activities with cost impacts.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce the overall baseline schedule and weekly 8-week look-ahead project-specific schedules.
- Implement and manage all SWPPP measures and documentation.
- Coordinate all field inspections and testing.
- Assist in providing pertinent field information for Monthly Reconciliation Report accuracy and forecasts.
- Develop, implement, and enforce the project-specific quality control program.
- Prepare and maintain the project's P6 baseline schedule and all subsequent monthly updates.
- Insert schedule delays/fragnets into the master P6 schedule contemporaneously.
- Monitor all job site control reporting measures.
- Video record and document all existing project conditions prior to construction.
- Oversee staff in completing weekly progress photos and preparing meeting minutes.
- Create and issue all project-specific Incident Reports.
- Schedule and chair all JHA-related meetings.
- Oversee and manage the daily coordination of all subcontractor activities.
- Document all actions dealing with actual or possible claims/legal action.
- Ensure all requirements of insurance, labor relations, and EEO are adhered to.
- Oversee and manage WEO employed or 3rd party provided laborers.
- Prepare and submit weekly time sheets for the WEO labor force.
- Assist the Project Manager in developing the General Conditions budget.
- Understand and enforce WEO and Cal-OSHA safety standards.
- Collect man counts and daily reports for each subcontractor.
- Create and manage completion and punch lists.
- Mentor field staff and conduct annual performance reviews.
- Mentor, develop skills, and career paths of Field Engineers and Assistant Project Superintendents.
Requirements
- Capable of supervising a project with a budget range of $5M - $60M.
- Assist the Senior Project Superintendent or other assigned supervisors when part of a large project team.
- Obtain and maintain QSP certification, if required.
- Possess knowledge of all project documents including plans, specifications, prime contract, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, and submittals.
- Read and understand subcontracts and associated exhibits.
- Enforce contractual obligations in the field.
- Stay up-to-date on changes to documents and ensure proper implementation.
- Provide technical assistance to all members of the project team.
- Ensure staff are completing weekly progress photos and preparing meeting minutes.
- Utilize the WEO safety department when applicable.
- Perform physical ability to climb stairs, ladders, and negotiate work areas.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

- Experience with daily software tools (Bluebeam, Plan Grid, Safety Mojo, BIM 360 Glue, etc.)
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction delivery methods, market sectors, construction administration, building trades, technical aspects of construction, means and methods, materials, building systems, planning, scheduling, estimating, and owner/architect relations.
- Completion of OSHA 30-Hour Safety Course
- First Aid and CPR certified
