About the Role
School in the Square is seeking dedicated, mission-aligned Middle School Math AIS/Intervention Teachers for grades 6-8. This role supports academic standards and students' social-emotional needs within a nurturing and supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Support efforts to ensure high academic standards.
- Focus on the social-emotional needs of all students.
- Teach and coach students in both academic and non-instructional situations.
- Respect and encourage student effort.
Requirements
- Skilled in current teaching methods and educational pedagogy.
- Experience using the structures of balanced literacy (read aloud, shared reading, guided reading, independent reading) and SOR to support diverse students in reading, writing, and phonics instruction.
- Experience with interactive, hands-on, creative learning.
- Experience using technology to support instruction.
- Experience using assessment to drive instruction.
- Experience with differentiation of curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Knowledge of co-teaching strategies.
- A strategic, solutions-focused thinker with strong communication and planning skills.
- A strong relationship builder.
- Familiar with restorative practices.
- A strong believer in anti-racism education, culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy, trauma-informed practices.
- Self-reflective with the capacity to accept and implement feedback to improve instruction.
- A graduate of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education program in a relevant content area.
- Current possessor of a valid New York State Teaching Certification or willing to enroll in a New York State Teaching Certification Program and obtain such Certification within two years.
