About the Role
The Contracts Administrator is responsible for drafting, vetting, and negotiating editorial acquisition contracts, supporting the editorial team and author community with contractual and royalty queries, and managing reversion-related inquiries.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the global Editorial team to process, draft, and negotiate acquisition contracts.
- Draft agreements using precedents and negotiate terms with agents and/or authors in collaboration with Editorial partners.
- Prepare, draft, negotiate, process, and administer audio rights amendments and other secondary documentation.
- Perform data and rights entry in the title management system.
- Manage and research author queries regarding royalty payments and statements.
- Process rights reversion queries and documentation, acting as the primary contact for these inquiries.
- Research, manage, and respond to queries related to sales after reversion.
- Manage the process for Author Estates and associated payments.
- Collaborate with internal teams on process management, continuous improvement, and streamlining.
- Perform other tasks as requested.
Requirements
- B.A. or equivalent, plus a minimum of 2 years of professional-level experience.
- Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts.
- A good understanding of legal principles and terminology, ideally within publishing.
- Excellent negotiation skills and good judgment.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Proficient in word processing, proprietary applications, databases, and IT systems.
- A team player with highly developed organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage internal and external stakeholders positively.
- Excellent work ethic.
