About the Role
The Supervisor Ramp & Passenger Services manages, coordinates, and controls airport activities for both Ramp Services and Passenger Service functions. This role monitors work performance, directs personnel, oversees staffing, and participates in disciplinary actions, coaching, counseling, hiring, and termination of subordinates. The position ensures compliance with company rules, standards, and contractual agreements, while maintaining budgetary controls and manning requirements. This role also involves communication between Airport Board officials and customers, proactive monitoring of employee work to ensure customer satisfaction, safety, security, quality, and employee relations meet or exceed standards. The supervisor maintains and controls all required aspects of the operation in accordance with the corporate security program and TSA legislation, ensuring company audit requirements are met for continuity and compliance. They also administer practices fairly and equitably, treating all employees, customers, vendors, and third parties with respect.
Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of airport operations, including ticketing transactions, baggage check-in, issuing boarding passes, and dispatching flights in a safe and timely manner.
- May be responsible for baggage service functions of filing loss, damage, and pilferage claims.
- Offer efficient and professional customer service and resolve passenger problems as required.
- Coordinate with all departments to ensure operational needs are met, including catering, fueling, and maintenance companies.
- Act as company representative when assigned.
- Report to work on a regular and timely basis.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Perform calculations using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Compute rates, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Interpret extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Loading and unloading of cargo (mail, express, baggage, freight, and company material) on and off aircraft.
- Transporting of cargo between terminals and aircraft.
- Ramp transfers of cargo where required.
- Receiving, delivering, and physical handling of freight and company material, export at the designated express docks, mail and baggage in the outbound baggage room.
- Completion of forms and messages related to and necessary for the performance of the designated locations of the functions described.
- Cleaning and servicing of cabin interiors, including cockpit and lavatories.
- Draining lavatories.
- Checking, handling, assembling, removing and installing passenger service cabin furnishings and supplies.
- Transporting such furnishings and supplies to and from aircraft.
- Assisting in loading, unloading and racking both filled and empty drums.
- De-ice aircraft.
- Clean aircraft windshields.
- Pushout/tow aircraft and related guide man functions.
- Connect/remove ground power and ground start units.
- May be required to clean the exterior of aircraft with specialized cleaning fluids.
- May be assigned to perform routine cleaning of work areas, ramps, and facilities with or without powered equipment.
- May be assigned to assist in monitoring security of facility.
- May be assigned to do routine automotive repair; servicing and cleaning of powered and unpowered equipment.
- Maintain and control all required aspects of the operation in accordance with the corporate security program and TSA legislation.
- Ensure that the required company audit requirements are undertaken to ensure continuity and compliance at all times.
- Read, understand and clarify the implementation of the site-specific security plan.
- Ensure that all WFS staff are issued with a relevant company ID and that they are required to display this identity badge.
Requirements
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be able to work weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), holidays and days off.
- Willing to work beyond standard hours during peak times; overtime eligible per law.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Work in a high noise level environment.
