About the Role
Thomson Reuters Labs in Toronto is seeking an ML/NLP scientist intern with a passion for problem-solving using state-of-the-art Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing techniques. This role is part of a team that contributes to major products serving tax and accounting professionals, aiming to deliver automation through transformative enhancements.
Responsibilities
- Experiment and Develop: Involved in the entire model development lifecycle, building, testing, and delivering high-quality solutions.
- Collaborate: Work on a collaborative cross-functional team, learning from and partnering with colleagues across the globe.
- Innovate: Have the opportunity to try new approaches and learn new technologies, contributing ideas and working on solving real-world challenges.
Requirements
- PhD student/recent graduate, or MSc recent graduate in a discipline relevant to NLP/IR/ML/Statistics.
- Practical and relevant experience building NLP/IR/ML systems, from ideation to implementation.
- Software engineering skills for prototyping.
- Proficiency in implementing solutions using Python, DL and agentic frameworks, and relevant tools.
- Experience in using code collaboration and versioning systems such as Github.
- Familiarity with cloud tools such as Amazon AWS, MS Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Data-driven problem-solving and decision-making mindset.
- Curious and innovative disposition capable of proposing outside-the-box solutions.
- Comfortable in communicating (verbal and written) complex AI solutions to audiences with diverse technical backgrounds.
