About the Role
The Box Office Manager oversees all ticket office operations, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery through strong leadership, staff training, event management, and operational oversight. This role fosters collaborative relationships with promoters, artist representatives, regional leadership, and venue team members while directing departmental planning, administration, and policy implementation. The Box Office Manager is also responsible for maintaining accurate show records, customer databases, and reporting systems to support informed decision-making and exceptional customer experiences.
Responsibilities
- Creates events with appropriate ticketing software, ensuring accuracy, timely response to needs, and follow-through with General Manager, Manager Ticketing, Talent Buyers, and Rental Clients.
- Assists in building and maintaining the event ticketing system.
- Manages seating inventory from event build through settlement, with emphasis on delegation to staff.
- Manages box office operations through staffing and scheduling.
- Hires, trains, and empowers staff to ensure adherence to departmental guidelines and practices.
- Ensures equipment is working appropriately and verifies correct ticket sales.
- Updates ticket and show-related information in internal software.
- Maintains continuous rapport between artist management and venue for ticket needs and sales.
- Attends production promotion meetings and works with booking department members to program events correctly.
- Leads staff in proper Customer Service Policies, including resolving customer issues and interfacing with other departments, assuring consistent, courteous, respectful, and timely service.
- Prepares and provides pertinent reports to the finance department, other departments, and third parties on event settlement and ticket counts.
- Oversees ticket inventory and overall pricing, maintaining dynamic pricing initiatives.
- Advances items essential for program functionality and on-site execution as required.
- Facilitates backend sales and provides data-driven insights to inform pricing adjustments and identify revenue-increasing opportunities.
- Responds to venue customer inquiries through dedicated channels, providing timely and professional assistance.
- Implements the overall design and development of initiatives for VIP and Platinum ticketing.
- Generates and provides input on collateral, sales, and marketing materials.
- Acts as departmental liaison to coworkers, venues, management, and agencies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or its equivalency (BA/BS Degree Preferred)
- 4-6 years of related work experience
- Previous experience in the music industry and event planning
- Prior supervisory experience required
- Experience with ticketing systems and basic knowledge of databases
- Strong math aptitude with a focus on detail and accuracy
- Computer savvy
- Knowledgeable and skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail and moderate to complex problem-solving skills
- Able to multitask and prioritize heavy workload in a fast-paced working environment
- Knowledge of industry best practices
