About the Role
The contract Facility Manager will oversee the day-to-day management and operation of ALX Oncology’s South San Francisco office, ensuring a safe, functional, and well-maintained workplace. This role involves managing facility maintenance, workplace services, safety, security, vendors, and general office operations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day building and workplace operations.
- Manage facility-related vendors, service providers, and property management relationships.
- Maintain facility documentation, service records, contracts, and compliance-related files.
- Support Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs and workplace safety practices.
- Manage office space planning, workstation setup, furniture moves, and related workplace projects.
- Coordinate office buildouts, relocations, and lab equipment moves and calibration.
- Ensure conference rooms, common areas, kitchens, employee workspaces, and other shared spaces are functional, well-maintained, and appropriately stocked.
- Manage building access, security badge systems, and visitor procedures.
- Coordinate access, workspace setup, and equipment needs for employee onboarding and offboarding.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve facility operations, workplace services, and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Facilities, office operations, or workplace management experience, including responsibility for day-to-day building and workplace operations in a small biotechnology or life sciences company.
- Experience managing facility-related vendors, service providers, and property management relationships.
- Experience with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs and workplace safety practices.
- Experience supporting compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
- Experience with office space planning, workstation setup, furniture moves, and related workplace projects.
- Experience coordinating office buildouts, relocations, and the coordination of lab equipment moves and calibration.
- Experience managing workplace services to ensure shared spaces are functional, well-maintained, and appropriately stocked.
- Experience with building access, security badge systems, and visitor procedures.
- Experience coordinating access, workspace setup, and equipment needs associated with employee onboarding and offboarding.
- Experience identifying and implementing opportunities to improve facility operations, workplace services, and operational efficiency.
- Regularly move throughout the office and building to oversee facility operations, inspect workspaces, and respond to workplace needs.
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit throughout the day, and use a computer for varying periods of time.
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform other physical activities associated with inspecting facilities, accessing equipment, and handling workplace supplies.
- Ability to safely use step stools or ladders as needed to access facility equipment, supplies, or building systems.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and assist with moving office materials, supplies, or equipment as needed.
