About the Role
Somerset Community College seeks a full-time Instructor/Program Coordinator for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. This role involves instructing students in theory and practice, managing program operations, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. The coordinator will travel between the Laurel Campus and Russell Center as needed due to the program's hybrid format.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction to students in the theory and practice of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.
- Plan and carry out instruction and instructional activities.
- Prepare learning materials for special studies.
- Prepare lesson plans and maintain records and reports on student learning.
- Participate in professional development activities to improve teaching skills and expertise.
- Provide student advising and manage student clinical placement.
- Perform other assigned duties.
- Serve as principal instructor for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program courses.
- Design curriculum for in-person and virtual formats.
- Assess students for didactic and laboratory content.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
- Serve as an academic advisor.
- Serve on the program's admissions committee, assessment committee, and advisory committee.
- Participate in student engagement activities that promote excellent student outcomes.
- Participate in professional association activities at the local, state, and/or national level.
- Participate in education leadership activities.
- Participate in internal service activities, including college and systemwide committees and meetings.
- Participate in external service activities performed in the community.
- Complete annual performance reviews for assigned faculty.
- Perform other program duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
- Possess the appropriate credential(s): RDMS or ARRT(S) credentialed (Abdomen/Obstetrics Gynecology).
- Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance, and in educational theories and techniques.
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.
