About the Role

KGO-TV/ABC7 News is seeking a creative newscast producer to develop dynamic newscasts with story showcasing and multiple live elements. This is an expression of interest for a potential future role.

Responsibilities

• Format newscast rundown and stories, including graphics and video.
• Write stories and teases for their newscasts.
• Perform non-linear editing of video for stories and newscast teases.
• Make news editorial decisions, including participating in team meetings on daily news development.
• Monitor social media and trending topics for newscast inclusion.
• Develop stories with reporters.
• Book live guests.
• Time newscasts and manage other editorial and production elements.
• Write stories for programs on linear TV.
• Contribute story ideas daily.
• Participate actively in coverage decisions and editorial meetings.
• Leverage social media platforms for stories and segments.

Requirements

• Minimum of three years of experience line producing at a local news station.
• Proven track record working under high-pressure situations with tight deadlines.
• Diligent with strong editorial and production skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be flexible with working hours (late nights, overnights, holidays) and adaptable to change, especially during breaking news situations.
• Must have medium to major market producer experience.
• Must be organized and work well under pressure with constant deadlines.
• Must possess solid news judgment, strong communication skills, creativity, and ethical decision-making skills.
