About the Role
As a Solutions Architect at Root, you will be a subject-matter expert on the Root Platform, translating its modular, API-first architecture into optimal solutions for clients throughout their journey. You will influence engagements from initial sales conversations through delivery and post-live projects, with your performance measured by the creativity and effectiveness of your solutions, your ability to build client trust, and alignment with Root's architecture. You will collaborate with Delivery teams to bridge client context and Root's capabilities, configuring the platform for scalable, realistic solutions. Your deliverables include working prototypes, architecture diagrams, solution documentation, and clear handovers to set Delivery teams up for success. You will also interface with Sales, Delivery, Product, Client Success, and Engineering to align client needs with Root's offerings.
Responsibilities
- Translate Root's modular, API-first architecture into optimal solutions for clients.
- Work closely with Delivery teams to configure the platform to solve specific client problems.
- Produce working prototypes, architecture diagrams, and solution documentation.
- Conduct early technical assessments of prospect use cases.
- Flag deal-breakers, constraints, or unreasonable complexity.
- Join technical sales meetings, discovery sessions, and design workshops.
- Build and present tailored demos for specific deals.
- Conceptualize and design solutions using existing Root-rails and tooling.
- Produce clear, complete, and future-proof architecture diagrams, solution documentation, and product specifications.
- Ensure sales commitments are realistic, scoped, and understood, flagging risks and dependencies.
- Stay engaged with the client from sales into the implementation phase.
- Direct clients toward Root-aligned best practice.
- Feed client needs, patterns, and gaps back into Product.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or scientific field (Engineering, Computer Science) or similar.
- Demonstrable coding skills.
- 4+ years in a solutions engineering, sales engineering, or technical implementation role.
- Experience working directly with clients to capture and define requirements.
- Experience in the insurance industry (nice to have).
