About the Role
Wilder Systems is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations and the monthly close process. This hands-on leadership role involves managing the general ledger, producing financial statements, and liaising with external auditors. The ideal candidate has a public accounting background and understands the importance of clean workpapers, reconciliations, and sound judgments.
Responsibilities
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including the close calendar, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts, ensuring accurate and timely transaction recording.
- Serve as the primary liaison for the annual external audit, preparing PBC schedules, responding to requests, and resolving issues.
- Design, document, and enforce internal controls over financial reporting, identifying and implementing improvements.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting activities.
- Manage sales and use tax, and support income tax filings.
- Partner with FP&A and department leaders on budget-versus-actual reporting and variance explanations.
- Drive process and system improvements to shorten the close and increase reporting accuracy.
- Support special projects, including technical accounting research and documentation of accounting positions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- CPA certification.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience.
- Audit experience in public accounting is required.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting.
- Demonstrated experience owning or leading a full month-end close.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with a mid-market or enterprise ERP / accounting system.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and communicate clearly with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- High degree of accuracy, professional skepticism, and discretion with confidential information.
- Prior experience in a company-side accounting role after leaving public accounting.
- Experience with ERP implementation, migration, or process automation.
- Master's degree in Accounting or an MBA.
