About the Role

Whitley Penn, a leading audit, tax, and advisory firm, seeks a Forensic, Litigation, & Valuation Services (FLVS) Director to manage client assignments, collaborate with teams and counsel, and ensure high client service standards. The FLVS department specializes in complex financial issues for attorneys and clients, including marital property, business valuations, damages, and forensic accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Direct forensic accounting, litigation support, and valuation engagements, primarily related to marital property and divorce-related financial issues, as well as other investigations and valuations for litigation-related purposes.
  • Identify issues, communicate with Managing Directors on case direction, and make strategic recommendations, exercising strong analytical skills for details and risk.
  • Deliver complete reports to the Managing Director for review, accompanied by relevant supporting documents.
  • Prepare testifying experts for depositions and trials, ensuring organized files and compiled work papers for easy review.
  • Work closely with testifying experts in developing testimony outlines and demonstrative exhibits for trial.
  • Initiate business development activities and develop internal and external circles of influence; participate in networking, marketing, and training events.
  • Lead departmental training for associate-level professionals and foster a learning environment of continuous improvement.
  • Review the work of Associates and provide feedback for corrections and changes.
  • Review formatting of schedules, spell check, and foot and cross-foot numerical totals for accurate financial information analysis.
  • Ensure staff work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Assist in recruiting, developing training material, and acting as an instructor in professional development programs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting and/or finance culminating into a leadership role including management experience, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • Broad background and knowledge in litigation/expert services and the calculation of damages in different types of matters.
  • Proficiency in use of technology and accounting programs including MS Office.
