About the Role

Actively recruit students into vocational trade programs by traveling throughout New York State, meeting new people, and promoting program opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach activities with public service agencies, community organizations, schools, and individuals.
  • Interview interested candidates and obtain pertinent information.
  • Prepare documentation on potential students.
  • Maintain monthly goals.
  • Review and audit assigned areas for contractual compliance and effectiveness, preparing related reports.
  • Arrange for and assist with pre-enrollment orientation and schedule tours of the center.
  • Prepare necessary reports related to outreach.
  • Assist in the development of new and revised policies and procedures affecting student recruitment.
  • Create a network with youth development agencies, one-stop agencies, churches, and community organizations.
  • Introduce labor market information to help with career transition and analyze career paths.
  • Participate in student employability programs and activities.
  • Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy.
  • Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring, and monitoring behaviors through interventions.
  • Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, communications, or closely related field.
  • Two years of related experience (Job Corps outreach and admissions, or other youth development programs).
  • Valid NY State Driver’s License.

  • Written communication must be clear, concise, easy to read, and to comprehend.
  • Ability to handle several projects simultaneously.

  • Seeks ways to improve service by developing professional skills and personal growth.
  • Initiates and responds to suggestions for improving service.
  • Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
