About the Role

Perseus, an operating group of Constellation Software Inc., acquires vertical market software companies globally with a buy and hold strategy. We provide strategic guidance and financial security to help these companies become market leaders. We are seeking a driven, high-performing financial professional with exceptional modeling skills, business acumen, and relationship management abilities to join our team as an Associate Director of M&A. This role supports the VP of M&A throughout the M&A lifecycle, with the expectation of leading transactions independently as the career progresses.

Responsibilities

Support the VP of M&A throughout the entire M&A process, with the opportunity to independently lead the acquisition process from start to finish over time.
Qualify targets for fit and deal probability through early conversations with business owners/senior executives and review of initial diligence materials.
Perform detailed financial analysis on financial statements and underlying data to identify trends and assess business strength and quality.
Build detailed financial models in Excel to determine valuation.
Facilitate the due diligence process and coordinate across multiple internal teams.
Maintain relationships with decision makers at acquisition targets.

Requirements

5 years of progressive work experience at a top-tier accounting, capital advisory, investment banking, management consulting, transaction services, and/or private equity firm.
2-3 years of mid-market deal experience executing transactions.
Experience working with small owner-managed businesses as a client/target.
Buy-side experience is a plus but not required.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
Strong communication skills (both verbal & written) with an emphasis on relationships, report writing, and research analysis.
Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and exceptional Financial Modelling skills.
Ability to work variable hours and travel when required to close transactions.
Confidence and polish for frequent interaction with Senior Executives, Business Owners, Investment Bankers, Lawyers, Accountants, and other key Stakeholders.
