About the Role

The Dentist will perform examines, treats diseases and injuries of teeth and gums. Performs preventative and maintenance dentistry and educates patients in proper tooth and gum care.

Responsibilities

• Performs general professional dental work including examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, preventive care, oral health education, oral surgery, periodontics, endodontics, fixed prosthodontics, removable prosthodontics, space maintainers, and treatment of diseases, deformities, and neoplasms of the mouth.
• Continues education to improve quality and broaden scope of care.
• Refers cases to other dentists when necessary to maintain the standard of care.
• Maintains a high standard of care and abides by professional ethics.
• Assists in the training of para-professional and non-medical personnel.
• Participates in the team approach to comprehensive health care.
• Works cooperatively with other professionals and non-medical personnel in referring patients to appropriate services.
• Ensures proper arrangements are made for patient follow-up care.
• Follows and enforces NEMS Infection Control protocol, Medical Waste disposal protocol and Hazard Communication protocol.
• Provides dental health education, including oral hygiene instruction and dietary advice.
• Performs dental screenings for NEMS members.
• Builds relationships and fosters a high level of customer service.
• Utilizes and monitors effectiveness and efficiency of all equipment and supplies.
• Serves as a member of the dental peer review committee.
• Assists the department in developing and implementing policies, protocols, and procedures.
• Administers and prescribes anesthetics and medications.
• Ensures accuracy, efficiency, and appropriate confidentiality with patient charting and recordkeeping.
• Provides leadership and direction to other dental clinic staff.
• Meets or exceeds all measurable standards of care, including clinical, quality, and productivity goals.
• Upholds and ensures compliance with all corporate policies and procedures, and the organization's mission and values.
• Adheres to all Federal & Government regulations including State Dental Board rules, HIPAA & OSHA regulations.
• Assists with in-service and on-going training of clinic staff.
• Performs other job duties as required.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of dentistry recognized by the California State Board of Dental Examiners.
• Current License to practice dentistry in the State of California.
• Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License required.
• Current documentation of Basic Life Support required.
• Must be able to fluently speak, read and write English.
• Fluent in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin), Vietnamese, Spanish and other languages may be required depending on location.
• Fluency in other languages are an asset.
