About the Role
The role provides an excellent opportunity to learn the pivotal role that Risk & Compliance plays within the organization, supporting the Insurance Solution and Distribution. You will provide independent oversight of strategic initiatives, operational risk, and the regulatory risk management framework for Insurance Solutions and Distribution. You will work directly with the first line of defence to provide expertise and guidance on risk management and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Effective management, oversight, and challenge of risk and regulatory compliance for Insurance Solutions and Distribution.
- Execute obligations under OSFI E-13 Regulatory Compliance Management and E-21 Operational Risk & Resiliency.
- Provide effective challenge, oversight, and expertise regarding operational risk and regulatory compliance management obligations.
- Oversee and support strategic initiatives, maintaining awareness of new and existing risk and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Provide guidance to the business on potential impacts and appropriate controls for strategic initiatives.
- Support the risk & compliance programs in implementing program requirements and processes within the business.
- Monitor, interpret, and maintain awareness of new and existing regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Provide expertise, advice, and oversight of regulatory obligations.
- Provide leadership within the Business Partner team, working with risk & compliance professionals.
- Oversee regulatory compliance and risk related processes to strengthen the risk and compliance culture.
- Oversee strategic initiatives by supporting change management and ensuring risks, impacts, and dependencies are considered.
- Assess the adequacy, adherence, and effectiveness of risk and compliance procedures and controls.
- Report on potential or actual issues, ensuring investigation and remediation.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide comprehensive support and ensure compliance risk is managed.
- Provide effective, timely, and constructive challenge and oversight.
- Interpret current and new regulations and legislation at provincial and federal levels.
- Ensure processes meet strict regulatory requirements.
- Communicate regulatory and legislative changes appropriately to the relevant audience.
- Provide advice and guidance on the implementation of regulatory changes and ongoing oversight.
- Gather, analyze, and prepare data for quarterly reports to Global Compliance and Risk.
Requirements
- 10 years of progressive compliance and/or operational risk experience within the financial services industry.
- Experience within the second line of defence is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and influence change effectively.
- Very good organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
- Able to apply critical and analytical thinking to resolve complex situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to actively adapt to changing business models and new technology.
- Bilingualism is an asset (fluent in French and English), required for Quebec only.

- $128,200 - $178,200 annually
