About the Role
The Social Content Creator will grow various news products into household names, starting with Hook'em for the University of Texas football season. This role involves creating and executing a vision for Statesman Instagram and TikTok accounts, working with the Audience Team to expand off-platform reach, and producing engaging video content.
Responsibilities
- Create and execute a vision to grow audiences for Statesman brands on social media
- Create a video content plan, shoot, edit and post video to Statesman social accounts
- Identify user-generated content that enhances storytelling and engages the social media audience
- Work with reporters to obtain permission from users to modify and publish their content
- Interact with social audience in a way that grows loyalty and enhances our brand
- Shoot, edit and post in-studio podcasts, using best practices for social media clips
- Create promotional touchpoints for various products to grow audiences across channels
- Be comfortable being on camera
- Maintain high audio and visual standards
- Ensure content follows digital copyright laws
- Maintain high journalistic standards, ensuring content is accurate, fair and reported without bias
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to grow a brand on social media
- Experience with video editing, specifically vertical social video
- Experience with shooting, editing and posting podcasts
- Proficiency in Canva and Adobe products: Photoshop, Premiere, Audition
- Social-media native who enjoys keeping up and participating in trends
- Demonstrated ability to experiment and pivot when things aren’t working
- Team player who can rally colleagues around an idea
- Able to learn new tools and tech independently and quickly
- Able to consistently meet tight deadlines
- Uses data to make strategic decisions
- Experience with performance analytics tools like Google Analytics, Marfeel, Looker Studio
