About the Role
You will be part of a 35-person team of sensor, IoT, and hardware engineers, developing a multi-sensor perception and fusion system for a drone early warning system with a learning map architecture. You will be responsible for the architecture across the entire device tech stack and influence hardware, platform, and AI teams. You will work on software integration on various hardware devices, coding with C/C++ and Zephyr, enabling fast and secure deployments, monitoring systems, resolving issues, and continuously improving observability. You may also support on-site operations, collect sensor data, and validate technology in field trials.
Responsibilities
- Develop a multi-sensor perception and fusion system for a drone early warning system with a learning map architecture.
- Be responsible for the architecture across the entire tech stack of the devices and convince the hardware, platform, and AI teams of your decisions.
- Work on software integration on various hardware devices.
- Code with C/C++ and work with Zephyr.
- Enable fast and secure deployments together with Sensor Fusion Engineers, MLOps, and DevOps Engineers.
- Monitor systems, resolve issues, and continuously improve observability.
- Support on-site operations, collect sensor data, and validate the technology in controlled field trials, if desired.
Requirements
- EU citizenship is a prerequisite due to security regulations for this role.
- Officially registered in an EU country.
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience in IT (e.g., Software Engineering), ideally 15-20 years.
- Minimum 5 years of full-time professional experience as an Embedded Engineer, ideally 10-15.
- Expert knowledge in Embedded Linux.
- Minimum 3 years of full-time professional experience working with a real-time operating system that was in production.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in the IoT sector.
- Fluent C/C++ skills. Fluency in another language such as Go, Typescript, Python, and/or Rust is a plus.
- Worked at least 2 consecutive years for the same employer.
- Fluent English; any additional spoken language is a plus.
- Willingness to work in the defense sector.
- Thrive in a dynamic startup or scaleup environment.
- Motivated to work exclusively operationally and hands-on (not in management) for the next 3-5 years.
- Ideally experience with fleet data, Bash, Golang, MLOps, EdgeML, DevOps.
- Ideally first cloud experience (GCP, AWS, Azure).
- Ideally willing to travel to Berlin for field trials 2 to 3 days per month.
