About the Role
The Legal and Compliance Department manages legal and regulatory compliance risk for GIC. We are seeking a highly motivated, high-caliber venture capital lawyer to join our Legal Division and support GIC’s Technology Investment Group.
Responsibilities
- Identify key legal and reputational issues in transactions arising from investment activities.
- Recommend and implement creative solutions to address complex legal issues.
- Liaise and consult with top international and local law firms on legal matters, delivering superior services cost-effectively.
- Review and manage transactions to close and draft or comment on associated contracts.
- Contribute to teamwork and collaboration among the LCD team.
- Participate in or contribute to GIC-wide initiatives and projects globally.
Requirements
- Law degree with strong academic results from a good law school.
- 3-5 years post qualification experience as a venture capital lawyer (private practice or in-house).
- Licensed to practice law in a U.S. state (preferably New York or California).
- Analytical mind, intellectually curious, with good knowledge of commercial law.
- Ability to identify legal risks and propose solutions while balancing business objectives.
- Good negotiating skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptable to changes and resourceful.
- Ability to multitask within tight timelines.
- Able to work independently and in a team.
- Drive and a strong desire to succeed.
