About the Role
Union College is seeking a part-time seasonal Assistant Men’s and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field Coach to support recruitment, coaching, student-athlete development, and administrative tasks within NCAA Division III and Liberty League competitions.
Responsibilities
- Assist in recruiting and retaining prospective student-athletes.
- Collaborate with the head coach and admissions to arrange campus visits.
- Ensure compliance with recruitment policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate effective teaching methods and leadership.
- Travel to meets and competitions on weekends.
- Work proactively with campus stakeholders to ensure academic success of student-athletes.
- Mentor student-athletes.
- Support program aspects designated by the head coach, adhering to NCAA, league, and department compliance.
- Assist colleagues as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or work experience.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
- Must have an understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Coaching philosophy compatible with a liberal arts college that upholds highly selective academic standards.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and computer skills needed.
- Ability to recruit within College, NCAA and Liberty League rules.
- Must be able to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Finalists for hire will undergo a background check that includes education, employment, and criminal convictions.
Skills
- Collegiate running/coaching experience preferred.
- Experience in either the distance, sprints, or horizontal jumps.
- Experience leading young adults.
