About the Role
Manage the logistics and inventory of critical tissue samples, supporting an innovative research pipeline. This role requires excellent communication, organization, and adaptability in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage the complete lifecycle of tissue samples, including inventory, registration, and archival of stained slides and tissue blocks.
- Serve as a key communication link, coordinating shipments and tasks across internal scientific teams and with external vendors.
- Maintain meticulous records and catalogs to ensure sample integrity and accessibility for ongoing research.
- Provide essential organizational support for the Anatomic Pathology laboratory's tissue panels.
- Maintain training and compliance in areas of health and safety, security, environmental and operational aspects of daily activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of relevant work experience in a laboratory setting OR Associate's degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a laboratory setting.
- Direct experience in biological sample management or laboratory logistics.
- Familiarity with tissue banking software (e.g., Labware Biorepository) or similar LIMS databases.
- Hands-on experience in a biology or histology laboratory setting.
- Experience working with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., R, Spotfire, Excel).
- Must be able to work in a laboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment.
- Job pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time.
- Needs to occasionally move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite.
- Frequently operate on instruments, objects, tools or controls, which will require regularly bending, squatting, stretching and reaching in order to perform in a service function.
- Occasionally move or lift up to 25 pounds (potential for occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds).
- Specific vision abilities required include close range distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally operates a computer and other office machinery.
- Employee may be required to handle hazardous waste according to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Potential risk to lab-based hazards including extreme temperature, biological materials, and hazardous chemicals.
- May be required to complete Medical Clearance, Respiratory Protection Training, and Fit Testing to wear a respirator.
