About the Role
The Senior Finance Business Partner will join the Commercial Finance team, specifically partnering with the Borrowing collective. This role supports Flex Credit cards, Loans, and Overdraft portfolios, managing the P&L and Balance Sheet to deliver the financial plan, aid strategic financial decisions, challenge performance improvements, and own end-to-end financials and controls for the business area.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the business and finance, collaborating with senior leaders on commercial projects, analyzing product performance, and providing day-to-day business support.
- Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and insights for improving profitability and growth, focusing on deepening product engagement, enhancing customer strategy, or optimizing pricing through scenario analysis.
- Analyze and scope new markets and products, designing commercials for business cases and negotiating with partners.
- Present ideas and collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, legal, risk management, product, strategy, and marketing.
- Design and build new processes to support effective decision-making as Monzo scales.
- Support the development of a team of financial analysts with clear objectives for ongoing development to partner with existing and new businesses.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in financial business partnering with senior business leaders, driving commercial and revenue-generating projects, evaluating business cases, and influencing decisions.
- Comfort navigating complex financial services fields and breaking down problems into manageable components.
- Strong financial modeling experience (advanced Excel/Google Sheets).
- Experience pulling data using SQL/Python is preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, issues, and recommend actions.
- Good interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to engage across various internal functions to develop, gain buy-in, and deliver outcomes.
- Experience building business cases, presenting, and debating investment choices.
- Ability to be hands-on and support colleagues, projects, or tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with experience in developing new processes and streamlining existing ones for efficiency.
- Background in retail banking; understanding of credit is preferred.
- Proficiency in using NPV and ROE frameworks to drive profitable strategy.
