About the Role
We are looking for a Real Estate Law Clerk to contribute to the excellent level of service provided to our sophisticated clients. The successful candidate should have strong knowledge of the real estate transaction process for complex commercial matters. The ideal candidate must possess excellent organizational talent along with the ability to multi-task and prioritize. This is a good position for someone who is detailed oriented, a self-starter who has excellent technical skills and has the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities
- Carriage of commercial real estate files from beginning to end
- Preparation of all related documents for purchase and sale transactions, mortgage transactions, routine loan transactions and refinancing (on behalf of borrowers from both private and institutional lenders)
- Standard document production in relation to larger property acquisitions, dispositions and financings
- Review title searches and prepare title memorandum, prepare off-title search letters, oversee off-title searches and draft requisition letters and responses
- Deal directly with clients, financial institutions, municipalities, land registry offices and title insurance companies
- Review and negotiate title insurance policies
- Prepare record books promptly following completion of files
- Produce the highest quality of work

Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Real Estate Law Clerk
- Strong knowledge of the real estate transaction process for commercial matters
- Successful completion of a related post-secondary education program in a legal assistant or law clerk program
- ILCO certification
- Proficiency with Teraview is required
- Flexibility to work overtime when needed
- Strong knowledge of title matters
- Handle time pressure and stress of multiple demands
- Any offer of employment will be conditional upon a criminal background check.
