About the Role

The Regional Underwriting Manager is a key member of the underwriting team, reporting to the Zonal Underwriting Manager. This role is crucial for profitably growing a book of business by partnering with carrier alliances and brokers, leading an underwriting team, and collaborating across the organization. Responsibilities include planning and budgeting for the book of business, developing carrier/broker relationships, and ensuring the quality of underwriting decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with leadership on planning and budgeting for the book of business, tracking performance, and analyzing market conditions.
  • Lead and manage an Underwriting team, handling referrals and coaching team members.
  • Manage the Region's new and renewal underwriting execution, selecting risks aligned with strategy and guidelines.
  • Operate within authority and documentation guidelines, follow up on accounts, and close new business.
  • Conduct and report on quarterly self-audits.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage carrier/broker partnerships within the Region.
  • Develop strategies and goals for carriers/brokers and track progress.
  • Position the company within a carrier/agency.
  • Deliver exceptional, timely, complete, and accurate service to carriers/brokers.
  • Develop trusted, respected, and lasting relationships with carrier/broker partners.
  • Collaborate with carriers/brokers to craft optimal solutions for their clients.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with carriers/brokers.
  • Underwrite empathetically at all times.
  • Participate in the sourcing, interviewing, and hiring process of new team members.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Management experience required.
  • Demonstrated progression of increasing responsibility.
  • A minimum of 10 years underwriting experience is required.
  • Some marketing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated solid problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate integrity, exhibit leadership skill and enthusiasm, and establish trust and credibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to form effective and productive working relationships with independent insurance brokers.
