About the Role
Control Point Associates is seeking an experienced Crew Chief to join their dynamic team in NYC/Melville. This role involves leading survey crews and utilizing cutting-edge technology to deliver exceptional surveying services across various industries.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead survey crews, performing all phases of land surveying including construction stakeouts, topographical surveys, boundary analysis, and as-built surveys.
- Utilize advanced survey equipment such as Trimble/Leica/Spectre robotic total stations, GPS RTK units, 3D laser scanners, and data collectors.
- Conduct detailed field calculations, complete sketches, and ensure accurate data download and processing.
- Safely handle surveying equipment and vehicles, adhering to safety protocols and maintaining equipment.
- Supervise and mentor instrument operators and other field crew members.
- Serve as the on-site client contact, maintaining positive relationships and providing project updates.
- Perform additional tasks as required to meet company standards for quality and accuracy.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in surveying in a managerial or leadership role.
- High School Diploma required.
- Strong math, computer, and technical skills.
- Expertise in operating advanced surveying equipment and software.
- Proven ability to lead a team and work collaboratively.
- Eager to learn new skills and adapt to technology.
- Willingness to obtain additional certifications (e.g., OSHA, Hazwoper, TWIC).
- Ability to perform field calculations and ensure accuracy of surveying data.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Flexibility to work overtime and travel overnight if needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand/walk for long periods.
- Comfortable working in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work in construction zones and on busy streets with high noise levels.
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; sponsorship is not available.
