About the Role
We are seeking a Senior UX Designer to define the player-facing experience of our Publishing Platform. This is a mobile-first role at the intersection of games and platform design, with your designs appearing across our platform and reaching players through a variety of experiences. This is a newly created individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Director, Product.
Responsibilities
- Partner in player research, including planning studies, synthesizing findings, and translating insights into actionable design direction.
- Own the UX for player-facing platform features on mobile, creating flows, wireframes, prototypes, and UI specifications based on research.
- Research and design for a general audience (kids, parents, adult fans), ensuring age-appropriateness, safety, and playfulness.
- Utilize analytics, funnel data, and A/B testing alongside qualitative research to identify friction points, propose improvements, and measure impact.
- Design mobile-first experiences that adapt gracefully across various screen sizes, orientations, and device types.
- Build a component design system for internal teams, including components, patterns, and guidance for all age groups.
- Champion accessibility and inclusive design, meeting or exceeding mobile accessibility standards.
- Collaborate with product managers, internal teams, and platform engineers to balance player needs, team needs, and technical constraints.
Requirements
- Extensive UX experience with a strong research emphasis, including at least 2 years in mobile games, gaming platforms, or comparable high-scale consumer mobile products.
- Proven ability to translate quantitative and qualitative data (funnels, A/B tests, player feedback) into insights that influence product development.
- Experience researching and designing for a general audience (kids through adults), including age-appropriate methods and understanding of age-related comprehension, interaction, and trust.
- A portfolio or case studies demonstrating shipped, player-facing mobile work where research drove design decisions and measurable outcomes.
- Strong fluency in mobile design, including touch ergonomics, gesture patterns, iOS and Android platform conventions, performance-aware design, and responsive layouts.
- Understanding of UI implementation in game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal) and how design choices impact development effort.
- Solid design and prototyping skills using modern tools, with Figma required.
- Fluency in AI-assisted design and prototyping workflows (e.g., prompt-to-prototype, code-based prototyping).
- Excellent communication skills for socializing research findings and articulating design decisions to various stakeholders.
- Comfort operating in early-stage environments where research practices and design standards are still evolving.
