About the Role

Nova Scotia Health is seeking 2 full-time Anesthesiologists to join a collegial group at Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH) in Sydney, Nova Scotia. CBRH is a tertiary care regional hospital providing a broad range of services and serving as a surgical referral center. There are opportunities for research and medical teaching with Dalhousie University.

Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia services at Cape Breton Regional Hospital and Glace Bay Hospital for General Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, ENT, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Dental Surgery, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Vascular Surgery.
• Manage pediatric patients.
• Participate in on-call coverage, including overnight and weekends.
• Provide acute pain services.
• Participate in the preoperative assessment clinic.
• Participate in medical student and resident education.
• Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority.
• Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities.
• Offer services in the Pain Clinic if desired.

Requirements

• Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
• Eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
• Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), or proof of alternative coverage.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
