About the Role
We work in partnership and collaboration with our customers, to deliver physical and electronic security solutions for projects across the UK. Our specialist design team bring multi-disciplined innovation and technical skill for a wide variety of Critical National Infrastructure Projects. An opportunity has arisen for a Security Design Engineer in our Warrington office who will be working on projects for our clients.
Responsibilities
- Lead site visits with the Head of Design/design team and act as the main contact for sub‑contract designers.
- Develop electronic security scoping and technical specifications following site visits and 3D scans.
- Work closely with sub‑contractor design teams to refine scopes and review their pricing, specifications, and technical submissions.
- Manage Tender Technical Queries (TQs) and maintain the TQ register.
- Support project and tendering teams with technical documentation for bids and orders.
- Ensure security procedures are followed on site and in the office, and assist with accreditation documentation for the GT AI business.
- Gather and interpret client requirements to propose compliant, secure design solutions.
- Collaborate with the Head of Design and delivery teams to ensure designs are value engineered, aligned to specifications, and compliant with legislation.
- Produce design documentation including layouts, specifications, schedules, network architecture, and cable schedules.
- Review and approve design deliverables and contribute to design plans and programmes.
- Identify potential design‑related changes (CEs/EWs) and manage variations through the Change Control Process, ensuring no scope creep.
- Promote innovation and challenge existing approaches to drive cost‑effective design solutions.
Requirements
- Experience and knowledge of integrated security systems including, Access Control, Intruder Alarm, Analogue CCTV, IP CCTV, Audio Challenge, and Intercom systems.
- Experience of system integration into both local and remote ARC (Alarm Receiving Centre) and RVRC (Remote Video Response Centre) central security management systems
- Water company experience beneficial.
- Experience with AMTECH.
- Sound knowledge of security equipment and devices.
- BIM / PAS 1192
- Experience of producing URS and FDS documents (where applicable) to client briefs and specifications.
- Knowledge of CDM regulations and temporary works requirements.
- Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft packages (experience with AutoCAD software would be an advantage).
