About the Role
Ferguson Industrial is seeking a Buyer Associate to support procurement activities and deliver excellent customer service while working on-site with a collaborative team at our customer location in Hobart, NY. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career or looking to transition into a purchasing role—no extensive buying experience required.
Responsibilities
- Assist with day-to-day purchasing and procurement tasks
- Monitor inventory and manage product shortages
- Communicate with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to support order needs
- Help process purchase orders and track order status
- Expedite orders and follow up on deliveries
- Support basic reporting and data analysis related to inventory and usage
- Assist with resolving invoice discrepancies and freight billing questions
- Maintain accurate product and order information in systems
- Research product specifications when needed
- Provide support in resolving customer and supplier inquiries
Requirements
- Interest in supply chain, purchasing, or operations (prior experience is helpful but not required)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to follow processes and learn new systems quickly
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong work ethic
