About the Role
RSM's Management Consulting - Finance Performance practice provides strategic advisory to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Finance function. As a Management Consulting Senior Associate, you will collaborate with businesses across various industries, working with a team to ensure the timely, budget-compliant, and client-focused delivery of engagements. You will contribute to multiple projects annually, fostering a comprehensive and fulfilling work experience in a supportive and respectful team environment that empowers consultants to excel.
Responsibilities
- Assist in optimizing all elements of the finance organization, including finance assessment, target operating model definition, business process improvement, enterprise transformation, and finance technology enablement and deployment.
- Demonstrate an understanding of finance and accounting functions and the people, processes, and technology components that support them, such as Procure to Pay, Order to Cash, Source to Report, Acquire to Retire, and Forecasting & Planning.
- Deliver high-quality work within expected timeframes, scope, budgets, and client expectations.
- Leverage digital skillsets – e.g. experience with visualization tools like PowerBI, Tableau as well as automation technologies such as Alteryx, to modernize service delivery through digitization.
- Assist with the monitoring of project progress, management of risk, and ensure project teams and clients are informed about key milestones, engagement progress, and expected outcomes.
- Participate in internal and external business development activities and networking.
- Understand firm capabilities across lines of business to identify cross-selling opportunities.
- Identify industry focus areas, assist with industry research, and support prospect and existing client targeting activities.
- Contribute to the execution of individual projects to completion, identifying opportunities and solutions to client challenges.
- Assist in developing new service offerings, innovative solutions, and deliverables for the rapidly changing finance environment and market.
- Effectively manage, coach, and develop junior resources and peers by providing timely and actionable feedback, as well as recruitment and retention efforts.
- Communicate effectively both internally and externally with client employees, C-suite executives and/or private equity partners to develop and foster client relationships.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Technology or other related discipline
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a large organization, professional services firm or CPA firm.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge in advising Finance organizations on business processes.
- Experience in at least one of the following focus areas: Finance Transformation, Business Process Improvement, Shared Services, Technology Enablement
- Excellent critical thinking skills and ability to solve complex business problems through fact gathering, business process mapping, and data analysis.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-evolving work environment and deal effectively with ambiguity.
- Must be a team player; demonstrate attention to detail and problem-solving skills; able to effectively work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, project management, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, MS Visio, MS Teams, MS Outlook, OneDrive, LucidCharts, Smartsheet
