About the Role

This role involves obtaining quality blood samples from all age groups, providing rapid response to medical emergencies, and performing point-of-care testing. The position requires accurate patient identification, specimen handling, and testing, along with proficiency in various computer systems and maintaining patient confidentiality. Responsibilities

Obtains quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods with standard safety equipment from all age groups, adhering strictly to regulatory requirements and collection procedures.
Provides rapid response to medical emergencies.
Performs a variety of point of care testing (POC).
Ensures accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, handling, and transportation.
Performs accurate specimen testing using POC equipment.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Utilizes good customer relations and communication skills in performing phlebotomy, answering the phone, and interacting with patients, nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals.
Demonstrates a positive and professional demeanor.
Works independently and as part of a team.
Assists with providing operations support to teams by mobilizing staff across various competency-based areas, ensuring coverage of critical patient care areas.
Participates as a member of the interview team.
Provides training feedback to education and leadership teams.
Assists with completing annual and random skill competencies.
Must be able to push a cart and walk distances.

Requirements

Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

This position does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
