About the Role

As Assistant Director of Finance, you will establish and maintain the Finance function for Cambridge House, a new luxury hotel in Mayfair. This role involves protecting business integrity, providing financial insights, and ensuring sound financial foundations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Regional Director of Finance in establishing and maintaining robust financial controls, procedures, and reporting standards.
  • Oversee the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and organization.
  • Support and develop finance team members.
  • Lead the month-end process, including journals, accruals, reconciliations, balance sheet reviews, and management accounts.
  • Implement financial systems, processes, controls, and reporting for pre-opening.
  • Contribute to pre-opening financial planning, expenditure controls, asset management, and operational readiness.
  • Serve as a finance point of contact, making financial information clear and accessible.
  • Monitor performance, manage costs, and ensure accurate revenue reporting with various departments.
  • Maintain effective controls across purchasing, accounts payable, credit control, payroll, cash handling, stock, and inventory.
  • Review daily revenue reports and reconciliations across PMS, POS, and other financial systems.
  • Support payroll processes, including journals, TRONC, and commissions.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support VAT, tax, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Liaise with external auditors and professional advisers.
  • Deputize for the Regional Director of Finance when required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an Assistant Director of Finance, Finance Manager, or equivalent role within a hospitality environment.
  • Strong understanding of hotel finance, including month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, revenue, payroll, purchasing, and internal controls.
  • Previous experience in a pre-opening environment is highly desirable.
  • A naturally collaborative approach.
  • Confidence to explain financial information clearly and thoughtfully.
  • Sound judgement, discretion, and integrity.
  • A genuine enjoyment of hospitality and an appreciation for exceptional guest experiences.
